Andromeda Engineering AB ("we", "us", "our") values your personal privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information in the Androbil app.
1. Clear Disclosure Regarding Background Location Data
Androbil collects location data to enable automatic mileage logging, even when the app is closed or not actively in use.
- Why? In order for the app to document your trips in accordance with Swedish Tax Agency requirements, start and stop locations as well as routes must be logged automatically without requiring you to manually start the app for each trip.
- When? Location data is collected in the background only when the app detects that you are in a moving vehicle. No location data is logged when the app is in idle mode (REST mode).
- Usage: Your location data is used exclusively to create your personal mileage log and is visible only to you as the logged-in user.
2. Information We Collect
Personal Data via Google Sign-In
To allow you to synchronize your mileage log across devices and ensure your data is retained after reinstallation, we use Google Sign-In. We collect and store: Name, email address, and a unique user ID (UID).
Location Data
During an active trip, we log GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude), trip start and stop timestamps, and addresses (derived from GPS coordinates).
Technical Data (OBD2)
If you connect an OBD2 adapter to the app, we collect technical parameters from your vehicle such as speed, engine RPM, battery voltage, engine load, and any diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). This data is stored in the cloud so you can analyze your vehicle’s health over time.
Note: Sensitive information such as your vehicle registration number or manually entered home/work addresses is stored locally on your phone only and is never transmitted to our cloud servers.
3. Purpose of Processing
We process your data to provide an automatic mileage logging service and to ensure that your documentation complies with Swedish Tax Agency requirements. An explicit purpose is to fully support applicable mileage log regulations at all times. We also enable historical analysis of your vehicle’s technical status through collected OBD data.
4. Sharing with Third Parties
We never sell your data to third parties. We do not share user data with advertising networks or other external parties. Data is securely stored using Google Firebase infrastructure, and all data transfers occur via encrypted connections (HTTPS/SSL).
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We store your trip history and OBD data for up to 7 years (in accordance with applicable accounting practices and Swedish Tax Agency recommendations), after which the data is automatically deleted. You may delete individual trips at any time directly within the app, which will also remove them from our cloud servers.
6. Data Security
The security of your data is our priority. We use industry-standard encryption and secure storage practices to protect your personal data and trip history from unauthorized access.
